The same twenty-by-twenty plan as the cedar, built out of structural insulated panels instead of logs — a foam core bonded between two skins, cut and numbered at the mill.

One bedroom, a full bath, an open kitchen and living room, and two hundred square feet of loft above. R-26 in the walls, R-40 over your head.

It’s our best seller for a reason: it goes up faster than the cedar, costs less to heat, and lands $7,400 cheaper.

Construction

How it’s built.

A structural insulated panel arrives as a finished wall: rigid foam bonded between two structural skins, pre-cut and numbered to the drawings. There are no studs to insulate around, which is where the R-values come from — and why a SIP shell closes in faster than a stick frame.

Questions

SIP questions.

Everything specific to the 400 SIP. Full FAQ →

A structural insulated panel — a rigid foam core bonded between two structural skins. It’s wall, insulation, and sheathing in one piece, delivered pre-cut and numbered to the drawings.

SIP for thermal performance and price: R-26 walls, R-40 roof, stamped drawings included, and $7,400 less. Cedar log for the look and feel of solid wood, and walls that finish themselves. Both raise on the same 20′×20′ footprint.

Yes — for most areas. That’s a real difference from the log kits, where stamped drawings are an added cost. Your local building department has the final say on what they’ll accept.

The standard kit is R-26 walls / R-40 roof. A Northern version is available at R-29 walls / R-57 roof for heavier snow loads and colder winters.

It’s 200 sq ft of open balcony loft, framed as part of the kit. The access — ladder or stair — is by others, so you can place it where your layout wants it.
