The same one-level plan as the 480 Cedar Log, built from structural insulated panels: a foam core bonded between two skins, cut and numbered at the mill.

A bedroom with a walk-in closet, a full bath, laundry, and an open kitchen and living room under a ceiling vaulted to the ridge. R-26 in the walls, R-40 over your head.

No loft and no stairs to build. Metal roof, siding and trim come in the kit, with stamped drawings for most areas.

Construction

How it’s built.

A structural insulated panel arrives as a finished wall: rigid foam bonded between two structural skins, pre-cut and numbered to the drawings. There are no studs to insulate around, which is where the R-values come from, and why a SIP shell closes in faster than a stick frame.

Questions

SIP questions.

Everything specific to the 480 SIP. Full FAQ →

The 480 is built for living on one level. The ceiling is vaulted to the ridge instead, so there’s nothing to climb and no stair to frame. It suits a backyard ADU, a guest house, or anyone who would rather not take stairs.

SIP for thermal performance and price: R-26 walls, R-40 roof, stamped drawings and the hardware kit included. Cedar log for the look and feel of solid wood. Both use the same 20′×24′ plan.

Yes, for most areas. Your local building department has the final say on what they’ll accept.

The standard kit is R-26 walls / R-40 roof. The Northern Version is R-29 walls / R-57 roof for heavier snow loads and colder winters.
